At Young Smarties, we’re on a mission to give your child the best start in life. We follow the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Framework (NQF), which guide everything we do — from daily activities to long-term planning for each child’s development.
We observe your child closely to understand their interests, strengths, and needs. Our team uses this information to create learning experiences that are fun and engaging to help them grow. We also keep detailed progress records, so we know how your child is developing, can better anticipate their needs, and what they might need next.
We believe in working closely with you. Whether it’s a quick chat at drop-off or regular updates on your child’s progress, we value your input. You’ll receive photos and learning stories through the Storypark app, showing what your child is doing, learning, and enjoying. We encourage you to share your child’s interests or needs, so we can include them in our program.
Our long-standing team means your child sees the same familiar, trusted faces every day. All Educators are qualified, passionate, and regularly attend training to stay up-to-date with the latest in early childhood education.
We regularly reflect on what’s working well and how we can improve. Our team meets often to discuss ideas, make changes if needed, and ensure every child is supported. Weekly reflections help us adjust the program based on how children respond and grow.
We love being part of your child’s life and work together with families to make the transition into care easy and smooth. For children needing extra support, we welcome specialists into the centre and collaborate with families to help them thrive. Even our former children — our "schoolies" — return during holidays for extra learning and support!

The things worth knowing before you book a tour.
We care for children from 0 to 6 years across three rooms: the Baby Room (0 to 2), the Toddler Room (2 to 3) and Kindy Kids (3 to 6). Children move up when they are ready rather than on their birthday, and we talk it through with you first.
We are open Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 6:30pm. We close on public holidays.
We are at 126A Alexander Road, Rivervale WA 6103, with off-street parking at the door. Most of our families live in Rivervale, Belmont, Cloverdale, Carlisle and Ascot, and many drop in on the way through to the city or the airport.
We are licensed for 35 places, which makes us a small centre by design. It means our educators know every child and every family by name, not just the ones in their own room.
All three meals are provided: morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. The only food to pack is a late snack box for children staying on past afternoon tea, which we keep in the fridge. We are an egg and nut free centre, so please check anything you send in against that.
A named sun hat every day, a fitted sheet and light blanket for rest time, nappies if your child is in them, formula or milk if needed, and a comforter if your child uses one to settle. Please put sunscreen on before you arrive. Dress your child in clothes that can get paint on them and shoes they can run and climb in.
Young Smarties is rated Meeting the National Quality Standard, assessed in April 2026, and we are Meeting across all seven quality areas. Our ACECQA service approval number is SE-00012831.
Yes. We are an approved provider, so families who are eligible can claim the Child Care Subsidy, which Services Australia pays directly to us and takes off your fees. You apply through your myGov account linked to Centrelink. We will walk you through the steps at enrolment and tell you exactly what your gap fee will be before your child starts.
Start with a tour. Get in touch through the contact page or call us on 08 9277 2116 and we will find a time that suits, including outside your work hours. Coming in and seeing the rooms tells you far more than anything we can write here.
On the first day only, drop off between 9:00am and 9:30am and collect at 2:00pm. The short day is deliberate: it gives your child a full morning to settle without a whole day stretching out behind it. From the second day, your usual booked hours apply. At drop-off an educator sits down with you and goes through your child’s routine, and that is what the room follows for the rest of the day.
Almost every child cries at the door in the first few weeks, and it does not mean something is wrong. A child who cries at goodbye is a child who is attached to you. Most settle within minutes of you going, and we call you if yours does not. Always say goodbye rather than slipping out, keep it short, and use the same routine each day.
Photos, updates and learning stories come through the Storypark app during the day, so you can see what your child has been up to while you are at work. Your child also has a focus educator, one person keeping an eye on how they are going and the person to ask. Ring us whenever you want to know how they are doing — it is never a bother.

From the beginning as you enter the door, you get a vibe that you don’t feel anywhere else. All the staff are super friendly and welcoming and always ready to have a chat with you, a laugh, and even a morning coffee. Have been with Young Smarties for almost five years now and I know my babies are well taken care of. Really and truly feel like a family there.
